DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves responsibility for planning, supervising, directing, and controlling the operations of the Traffic and Parking Violations Agency. The Executive Director of the Traffic Violations Agency develops policies and procedures for the operation and administration of the department. Supervision is exercised of professional, technical and clerical support staff assigned.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the department;
Develops and implements policies and procedures in the administration of departmental operations;
Oversees all administrative matters, such as personnel selection;
Develops appropriate management systems;
Oversees the recording and reconciliation of traffic and parking tickets;
Ensures that established policies and procedures are implemented;
Develops short range and long range goals for the operation of the Agency;
Prepares statistical and financial reports and statements;
Prepares periodic reports on the activities of the office;
Reviews various reports of departmental operations in order to recommend new regulations and office policies;
Prepares and administers the departmental budget;
Monitors direct and contracted services.
Does related work as required.

Comprehensive knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations involving traffic and parking violations; comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration;
Thorough knowledge of management and supervisory practices and principles;
Thorough knowledge of budgetary practices and principles; ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of a large support staff;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions;
Ability to identify problems, analyze information, and recommend solutions;
Ability to prepare, submit and analyze reports;
Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Secretary of Education, plus five years of full-time administrative experience working for an agency or organization involved in traffic or parking violation service, or a closely related field.
Note: Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated to meet full-time experience requirements. Proof of education must be presented at time of appointment.
