Distinguishing Features
Reports to the Commissioner.
Manages all affairs of the Division of Streets.
Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs for:
Snow and ice removal/prevention on streets, alleys, roadways, and highways.
Regulation and control of vacant lots.
Collection and disposal of trash from city streets.
Governs and disciplines the division and its employees; can make and enforce orders, rules, and regulations.
Typical Work Activities
Develops and implements division policies and procedures.
Directs supervisory personnel in day-to-day operations.
Implements official snow removal plans and coordinates snow/ice removal.
Supervises street cleaning operations (sweeping, flushing, etc.).
Oversees maintenance of vacant lots and specific streets (lot cutting, trash removal).
Manages administrative functions including purchasing, payroll, and adherence to budget.
Responds to citizen complaints and ensures timely resolution.
Performs other duties as required by the Commissioner.

Thorough knowledge of snow/ice removal methods, technologies, and equipment.
Thorough knowledge of street cleaning procedures and equipment.
Ability to direct, manage, and discipline a workforce.
Ability to understand and interpret written material.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Five years of full-time experience in public service administration or business administration, including direction and control of subordinate employees.
